City Engineer visits Austin-East High School

Ciy of Knoxville Engineer visits Austin-East High School and speaks with students.
On November 18, 2010, Mrs. Chevelle Lewis, Codes Administrator for the City Of Knoxville, Public Works Department, participated in a STEM visit at Austin-East (A-E) High School as part of the Vols4STEM Program. Mrs. Lewis, a Civil Engineer, encouraged the local high school students to consider the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic fields when planning their college career. Mrs. Lewis discussed her high school activities and how and why she chose the Civil Engineering field. In addition, Mrs. Lewis answered several questions from the students and provided additional information on engineering fields and the requirements for entering college as an engineering candidate. Mr. M. Carl Wheeler, retired engineer and Vols4STEM Point of Contact for A-E and Vine Middle School coordinated the visit with Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Rhea Carmon of the Mathematics Department at A-E.
